(Very) Quick and (Very) Dirty mix

Here we go again...

A (very) quick and (very) dirty little mix for you all to enjoy on this Saturday evening, packed to the gills with the latest (one of these records I literally just got handed to me barely ten minutes before I started recording the mix) and the greatest.

You'll just have to trust me on that statement.

Definitely let me know what you think of this mix, any standout tracks, any standout transitions - again, nothing fancy there, just me doing what feels right (and for the purists out there, this is all vinyl, no digital edits) - and if you want actual track-names.

Digitalism
Alan Braxe & Fred Falke
Mylo (remixed by Rex The Dog)
M83 (remixed by Jackson)
D.M. Project
Hollertronix
Zongamin (remixed by Jackos)
Alter Ego
Hot Chip
Freeform Five (remixed by Mylo)
Tiefschwarz
Cut Copy (remixed by Digitalism)
Sebastian Tellier (remixed by Metronomy)

Enjoy + happy Saturday night!

Well over here its Sunday 1:30 A.M. so I'm going to bed. Sunday mornings I like to get up early so as to make the most of having the house to myself while the rest of the clan go out and do their God thing. Shall have to sleep twice as hard as normal to be able to do this then tomorrow morning I'll give your mix a whirl. No I haven't commented here before - normally I just take the mp3's and go (you and a 100 other audio blogs) too busy clicking to read and write. So I'm changing my ways by leaving a comment which I'm sure must be a large part of why someone keeps an audio blog - feedback. And if I remember which blog I got this mp3 from then you'll get more feedback tomorrow but if I don't it might then be attached to another blog. PS enjoyed all 9 of Beethoven's symphonies you posted recently. Thank you and goodnight.

holy crap, blair! that was incredible! i mean, really, absolutely stunning. i think my favorite part would probably be the events surrounding the 11 minute mark. it's like you've been staring at this gorgeous girl and suddenly she comes over and talks to you. then the ingenious use of gold digger samples! later when you finally drop hot chip in there it's a devastating effect. anyway, i can understand not wanting to show your cards, but i for one would love to see some track names and stuff to see how it all came about. fantastic mix.

The first three plus the last track are totally ace, though there's quality throughout. What an excellent mix!

Posted by: robot robot at December 4, 2005 1:58 AM

Yeah it truly was excellent. Great choice of tracks nicely mixed together - it is not going to leave my car stereo for at least three days :-). Your blog is being a big inspiration for me by the way.Just two days ago I have bought the Faunts CD after hearing their track through your site. Might send you some cool local tracks for your collection - from Prague, Czech Rep. Cheers.

this is very fitting for the snow here, quick and dirty.

Posted by: Mr Roboto at December 4, 2005 6:02 AM

Yes, like. Very sexy cute music, and is it me or is it you but every time there was a track I recognised (e.g. Rocker) it kept resurfacing reshaped? Unfortunately Ned Maude Rod and Todd were so busy uncoordinatedly jerking their bodies to your mix that they missed church so I didn't have the house to myself this morning.

Awesome!

Oh, and thanks for the Desormais post a couple weeks back, I've been enjoying their album a lot.

W,O,N,D,E,R,F,U,L,!
Congrats for the mix.

Blair you done done it. I'm not saying that every subsequent action in your life has led to the crowning action of creating this mix, or that you were given breath only to do so, but just cuz I'm not saying it doesn't mean it's not true. All nonsense aside, this is great fun to listen to, is totally stonker, and if I ever have one, I'd like to play it at my wedding. You've also made writing application essays much more palatable today. Keep em coming, compadre - cheers!

I love the mix. You done well - and to think I was veering away from the electro stuff - I am now veering back.

Posted by: YOCKE at December 5, 2005 12:37 AM

Oh, and by the way, Jackson's remix of Run Into Flowers (along with your previous posting of Rock On) convinced me to download 'Smash'. I think I'm really going to like it, so thanks!

Posted by: YOCKE at December 5, 2005 12:53 AM

Nice tunes mate. Keep em coming pretty please. thanks! x

Posted by: erin at December 5, 2005 11:37 AM

Thanks for the mix...really enjoyed it, love the Tellier track. I want this in my car as well, like that guy that posted above--how does one get this mix from the computer to a CD to play in their car==is there some program or software that would allow me to actually download this mix and have forever? I'm not tech savvy, help me out people!

Posted by: uncle alex at December 5, 2005 6:13 PM

Uncle Alex,

You can always just download the track, add it to your itunes, and then burn it to CD. That's the way I do it.

If you don't already have itunes, you can get it here:

http://www.apple.com/itunes

From there it's pretty self-explanatory.

Thanks! Great mix! I especially love the m83, but that's one of my favourite tunes from the last few years. Very, very enjoyable.

Very nice mix. I think the flow in the 2nd half is especially good. The Alter Ego track is great. Time to buy some more tunes ... Thanks.

Finally a podcaster who can actually dj! great selection great mix.

But as someone working in the indie music industry, I think it would be great to post the hyperlinks to the record labels of the songs... most of the indie industry needs that help right now.

Posted by: turgan at December 12, 2005 12:12 PM

I really love this awesome mix, but I don't like the fact that I don't find what the track with this beautiful girl voice (29:55) is. Can anybody help me? Thanks.
