Don't need much explanation

The Presets - Girl and the Sea (Cut Copy Remix)

Yowza, talk about a match made in heaven! Or maybe its just a match made down under... label mates Cut Copy versus Presets = electro pop genius.

This song was the title-track of the Presets' 2004 EP (who you originally heard here, and who also appear on MFR vol. 1), and you already know full well just how much we here at MFR like Cut Copy, since they appear here every few months it seems. Hey, what can I say? I'm a big time sucker for the brand of quality electronic pop music these guys make.

So, as you can tell, Modular Recordings and MFR have had a nice relationship for quite some time now, and this is a good example of that: this track is somewhat exclusive, as it is only out in Australia at the moment. However, rumor has it that Modular has (very) recently opened a US branch, so you can probably expect all of their records to come out here at sweet sweet domestic prices...

Anyway, if you're fortunate enough to be living in Australia - where it is approaching mid-Summer (and that makes you rather fortunate right now - damn this cold cold Winter!) - you can pick up the single this track comes from, Are You The One?, or the new full-length, Beams, direct from Modular's online store - otherwise you'll have to wait till this spring, when the Presets records will be out here in the US.

Dig it.

MODULAR PEOPLE has always been my favourite local label since it 1st started. i own most of the albums that came out from them. including the 2 EPs by THE PRESETS as well as their debut album. not to mention a limited edition PRESETS shirt. actually it was a bag, which i turned into a shirt. I also own both CUT COPY's mini album, & their actual debut album. great union indeed!

yo. modular records is now part of Island Records in the U.S. so hopefully they pore some money into this quality shit.

I like the sound and the vocals remind me of the 80's. It's a great track to listen to!

I love the Presets and are going to see them on Friday yippee!!

Thanks for covering Australian bands sometimes, they seem to get neglected a lot (must be something about being in the southern hemisphere...)

oh- and I can verify that Stuart Buchanan isn't just hyping FBI radio... I listen to it and it's brilliant. I heard they're going live on the web soon (?).
