5 top 5's from 2005

...or at least these were a few of mine. I had mixed feelings about 2005 musically, but here was some of what I thought ended up being the best and worst for me during the past year.

let's make this a party; post your best/worst of whatever lists in the comments!

albums I enjoyed the hell out of in 2005:
  1. Jamie Lidell - Multiply (WARP)
  2. M.I.A. - Arular (XL)
  3. Mylo - Destroy Rock and Roll (Breastfed/V2)
  4. Gorillaz - Demon Days (EMI)
  5. Chromeo - She's in Control (Vice)
    most memorable artists from 2005:
  1. M.I.A., because the haters are just plain wrong
  2. Baby Dayliner, for being amazing
  3. Cansei de ser Sexy, for doing it right
  4. Mylo, for destroying DJ sets and live shows everywhere
  5. and Kanye, for declaring war on the President
favorite songs (based on my iTunes playcount) in 2005:
  1. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.
  2. Mylo - In my arms
  3. APSCI - Rob the Bank
  4. Bloc Party - Banquet
  5. Beck - Bit Rate Variations in B-Flat (Girl Gameboy Remix)
    what was missing in 2005:
  1. SUMMER JAMS - what the fuck?
  2. bars in my neighborhood
  3. my digital camera, will all my honeymoon pix on it
  4. a full-length Presets album in my blue & white chrismukah stocking
  5. accountability in government
best of the rest in 2005:
  1. weddings
  2. video iPods
  3. the island nation of Japan
  4. jalapeño cornbread
  5. We Love Katamari

"Let's Make Love And Listen To Death From Above" is the greatest song I downloaded in 2005.

Not that it matters much but Mylo and Chromeo both are 2004 records although I too wore them out in '05. How about Gorllaz "Dare". Pure stormer.

I know they're a bit old - but as the heading says, these were the CDs I played to bits last year. Mylo's album is actually coming out in 2/2006 over here (finally), which means we'd all be ahead of the curve by a year or two.

agreed on Dare - amazing song (especially the Soulwax remix), but F.G.I. does more for me, something about that strummy guitar break and the flying windmills in the song and video.
