Mr. Metro' + PSA
Metronomy - Black Eye / Burnt Thumb
Just a quickie today because I'm pretty busy, but I wanted to let you know about a couple of things that are going on, AND let you all know the new single by MFR fave Metronomy is out and ready for you all to eat up!
Metronomy is Brighton-resident Joseph Mount and he makes really great lo-fi electronic songs - some chopped up drums, some live drums, wobbly synths, fuzzy guitars, a couple of tracks with vocals, and just enough glitches in the mix to give you little shivers down your spine.
This song comes off the You could easily have me EP, which came out in December - the EP also features two new songs, both of which are totally genius (and can be streamed on his Myspace page!). This track also appears on Metronomy's Pip Payne (pay back the £5,000 you owe) full-length, which is totally brilliant and worth tracking down. Metronomy's genius doesn't stop there though: he has also proven himself to be a great remixer, as you heard with his work on Sebastian Tellier's "La Ritournelle" (easily one of my favorite remix tracks of 2005).
You can purchase the EP and album from Rounder, Resident and Borderline (all in Bristol Brighton - sorry!), from Rough Trade, Puregroove, Sounds of the Universe, and Tatty Divine (in London), or direct from his label, Holiphonic or from iTunes!!.
