Bummer Breeze
Bobby Birdman - Victory At Sea E*Rock remix.
Crooning. Some love it, some hate it. Me, I can be pretty crazy about it, and I think that Bobby Birdman's croon on top of E*Rock's squirting beats is downright magical. The vocal melody is a delight, as Bobby (real name Rob Kieswetter) does his best Bing. This remix is not too far off from the original, but it definitely has E*Rock's signatures all over it.
This song comes from Bobby's Victory at Sea 12" that was released yesterday on Fryk Beat records. Fryk Beat is a new label started by E*Rock (in addition to audio dregs), and this is one of their inaugural releases. They're actually having a big release party on Friday at Holocene in Portland. The show will be with Panther, who also has a record out on FrykBeat. Copy will be there as well -- I posted a track from his record Mobius Beard last week.
At any rate, is this track is any indication of the direction of this label, I'm definitely excited. I love sounds like this, and textures like this. It's fantastic stuff. I wish FrykBeat the best in 2006. I also believe that Bobby Birdman has a full length coming out on States Rights Records, but I'm not entirely sure -- I couldn't get the stateside site to load this morning.
