Makes It Look Like a Library

King Khan BBQ The King Khan & BBQ Show - Waddlin' Around.

Today is an interesting day. I guess it's mostly bad, but whatever. I think I'll make it through. I never know though. If it's not one thing it's another, right? It was an accident. I swear.

Anyway, here is a totally harmless, ridiculously fun song. Believe it or not, this song was recorded in 2005. I know! And it's two dudes. I can't even imagine the live show. I'm pretty sure the BBQ sings, plays drums, and plays guitar (maybe at the same time?). Anyway, he's got a dope voice, and King Khan has some perfect garage guitar chops. It's ridiculous. I love it and I can't believe these guys slipped under my radar for so long. This makes me want to take off my shoes, put on a skinny tie and slip around in my socks. It makes me want to wear chunky ray bans and drive a cadillac.

I don't know much about these guys, and much of their biographical information is written in ways that don't make a ton of sense. However, King Khan and BBQ used to be in the Dirtbombs a bunch of years ago. Then, King Khan moved to Germany where BBQ eventually met up with him to record this record. It came out about a year ago. I highly recommend it. You can pick up their CD from their label. You can also pick up a digital copy through iTunes for 10 bucks. It'll definitely be cheaper that way.

Comments

These guys definitely sound a few decades late, but of course that's not a negative.

Saw these guys play at Maxwell's a few months ago, and the show was something. BBQ stole the show- he sings, plays bass drum with one foot and tambourine with the other, and plays rhythm guitar. King Khan was the doo-wop backing vocalist, dancer, and lead guitarist all at once. And he put a dress at one point.

KK & BBQ used to play in the Spaceshits together in Montreal, so they've known each other for some time, and that's where I first heard of them, but this is the first time they've done anything together in a while. The story goes that they went on a tour in Europe and KK (then Blacksnake) stayed behind and formed King Khan & His Shrines, a garage/soul band (and of course it sounds great). BBQ (then Creepy) went on to form Les Sexareenos (kinda garage/r&b, again with the greatness) who released a few records on SFTRI and when they broke up eventually started a one man band as BBQ. There was a BBQ record (Tie Your Noose) last year that kind of got overlooked in the KK & BBQ Show mayhem but it's really good too.

i'd like to second the mention that the bbq solo album is great; also, their live show is seriously entertaining. wasn't really expecting to see king khan's balls or see him teabag some poor unsuspecting kid, but them things happen sometimes.

there's some crappy photos of them on my crappy website, if'n yer bored.

The CD is out on Goner Records in the US. You can get it from them on the cheap. And you should get it because it is amazing.

wow, that was just simply amazing. Way better than I first though it would be.
