Ain't no Hassle
Hassle Hound - Lucky Bugs Win Prizes
I wanted to get you all a small piece of something fun for this Friday evening, so here's a tasty little sampledelic track by Hassle Hound. I feel like this could be B-Side track for either the Go! Team or the Avalanches - it has that delicacy and playfulness, and the loopy samples lend the track a child-like feel to it too.
Unfortunately I can't find much info on the group, but I do know they're from the UK, they formed a few years ago with core members Tony Swain (guitar, loops, samples), Mark Vernon (loops, samples, electronics and balloons [ed: what?]), Lizzy Swimmers (Violin & Vocals), and David Fulford (keyboards & electronics), and that they've attracted themselves a nice following. So far, they've released a pair of EPs, Appalachian Listening Post (released by Twisted Nerve), and Scaring the Grass in the Garden (released by Pickled Egg Records), as well as a couple of other releases with experimental artist, Sun.
There's a new full-length album, called Limelight Cordial, that comes out March 21st, and its where this track comes from. There's a lot of great cuts on Limelight, but I thought this one was one of the best to illustrate their sound. Limelight Cordial is being released by Berlin's Staubgold, known as a haven for experimental dance music. Once the album is released, it will be available at the usual indie retailers, like Forced Exposure here in the US, or direct from the label, here.
