We Can Retreat
The Plastic Constellations - Iron City Jungles.
Damn I wish I had this record last night when it took me an hour and 40 minutes to get home through the stupid rainy streets of Los Angeles. It's got just enough sing-along rage to get you through those murder drives. Instead I just had the oldies station, which was fine for awhile.
At any rate, I've been waiting for this record for months. Pitchfork posted an mp3 in their track review section back in the fall and it got me all stoked for this one -- a band that fills the gap for all the Les Savy Fav/Dismemberment Plan fans who also love the rap game. Then the record dropped in February and I forgot to pick up a copy. But no worries! A copy came in the mail yesterday, after I'd forgot all about it. And here it is, exactly as awesome as I wanted it to be. Can you beat that? No. No you can't.
So, this song is fantastic, and it gives you a real taste of the rest of the record. It's got lots of pounding drums and sing/shouting, and great riffs and nice melodies. It reminds me a little bit of J Church even, which is a band I haven't thought about in ages. I love all the angles, and cuts and jabs. I love music like this. I highly recommend this record.
You can pick it up direct from the band on the cheap. It's super worth it. You can also but it from iTunes, if you're into that whole digital thing.
