I might not be homeless after all

Score another one for the home team. Indie rock and I have an on-and-off relationship, where most of the time I find either it forumulaic and therefore boring, or so sweet it gives me cavities. The happy medium I've found is the fun but not too serious, cute but not anime-cute, and nerdy sans-Astroman category. You probably know who I'm talking about from my posting history: Ambulance, Shush Shush, Self, Hum, etc.
So... Brooklyn's own Eiffel Tower starts my day off right. Kinda like frosted mini-wheats. Sweet enough on one side, but with some substantive fiber and real grit on the other. They're signed on the newly-formed Zero One Infinity digital label, an offshoot of March Records, which brought us the likes of Ladytron et al. back in the good old days.
Their sound has a friendly growl to it, with heaps of rich melody building up the progression to a warm and nod-friendly chorus. The classic indie appeal of their songs will be immediately evident, however there's enough progressive elements sprinked throughout the various structures they explore to set the album apart on your playlist. Drum styles, electronic elements in the production, and plenty of original motifs explored within the LP made this one I enjoyed more than thrice, and counting.
They'll be playing at Northsix in Brooklyn on April 4th. Come buy me a beer and high-five the home team.
