Call out his name, everyone can sing along

Haley Bonar (rhymes with "honor") is a Twin Cities indie-folkie who, for her first album, got to tour with Low after Alan Sparhawk saw her at an open mic up in Duluth. Since then she's opened for Neko Case, Andrew Bird and others. Her debut, Size of Planets, came out in 2003, and her new one, Lure the Fox will come out soon. It's already available in the Twin Cities, with national distribution to follow. A couple tracks:

I just love this kind of voice, the relatively unexpressive tone that somehow reveals everything. And that Fender Rhodes in these tracks is a trademark for her; she used it to great effect on Size of Planets and does so again with her new record.
I write pretty often on this site about artists who I guess you'd consider "folk", and how that word just doesn't include the best of what some of these artists can do. Haley Bonar's writing contains multitudes, and Lure the Fox is a great example.
You can find Lure the Fox in Minneapolis at Cheapo and the Electric Fetus, with more locations to follow.
