Mondays rock! (slowly)
Sunday night, post Fox television lineup - what's up with so many re-runs, right? But at least that awful War At Home show wasn't on tonight... I was super busy this weekend, but I still feel fairly well rested, and am about ready to face the week ahead. This is a little track to keep your weekend alive, or, if you're not reading this until Monday morning, don't worry, you can still slowly jam to it, air guitar soloing at your desk. Perfectly Acceptable.
So... here's a slice of monstrous instrumental rock (or as the band says "some kind of ambient noise rock"), along the lines of Mogwai (who I totally love) or Explosions in the Sky (who I like, but honestly don't really know all that well). The band is an instrumental five-piece from Frankfurt, Germany, consisting of Mathias on guitar, Flo on guitar, Patrick on drums, Benni on bass & synth, and Ralf on samples & synths. They also have a guy, Raul, that does live visuals. I would love to see what these guys do - apparently they just came home from a pretty extensive European tour, and hopefully they'll make their way to the US before too long.
This track comes from their self-titled debut album, which, though it is just three tracks, clocks in at over 40 minutes in length. The songs all take their sweet time, with each track over ten minutes long (actually, the shortest song is still over eleven minutes in length). The style is a slow build, and this track certainly builds up slowly, but the release in the middle of the song is massive, as is the final explosion in the last few minutes of the track. Yowza.
You can find out how order their self-titled debut direct from the band, by shooting an email to contact (at) daturah.de, or you can get it direct from their record label, Graveface Records (US), from the catalog page.
Check out their Myspace page for more info and music, and have yourself a good week!
