What I like About...
Man, I'll tell you what, sometimes people are crazy. Especially when they're from Europe. Specifically from Amsterdadamn... like this total character, About, aka Rutger Hoedemaekers. In his About guise, he makes this crazy, chopped up pop music. Not unlike Jackson's recent output, but with more pop to it.
Oh, and re: that initial guitar fuzz build-up, how totally "Sometimes" by My Bloody Valentine is that? Wow, gorgeous ringing and totally distorted tone. This song comes from his new album, Bongo, released by the Germany-based Cock Rock Disco label, run by Jason Forrest (aka Donna Summer), and home to other bands bent on sonic destruction (some moreso than others - its a great label for the serious breakcore steez). Check the label's Myspace page for more goodies. Anyway, Bongo is a really fun record, and all the songs are of the get-stuck-in-your-head variety. The record is released in early May here in the US, but is available now in Europe and the UK via Boomkat (I'll update this with any current info I can get for a pre-order page in the US).
Oh and there's another free song on About's site and on CRD's site too (and visit his Myspace page). Plus, there is this amazing video for "Think Niles Drink" available here - I really like the "live" stop-motion animation, and I also appreciate the NYC locations (ie: down the street in my neighborhood in Williamsburg, and the cake-buying and record-shopping at Cake Shop in the LES).
Worth watching for sure so check it out.

PS: Last night at APT was dope! Thanks to the folks that came out and said hi while I was DJ-ing, and thanks also to everyone else that came by to party with the Hefty Crew - Jon, it was nice to catch up; and it was great to meet all the other Hefty folks, all of whom were very cool. Thanks again guys, you rocked it!
