The Streets wants to tell you something...

hardest way

The Streets - The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living video commentary (Quicktime Movie)

As some of you old school readers know, here at MFR we like The Streets - personally, I think his stuff is great, and have been into The Streets since day one. Now, I've got something special for you. I mean really special.

The folks at Vice Records have given us, and our pal Chris over at Lemon-Red, exclusive videos of Mike "The Streets" Skinner talking about his new album, The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living, which comes out Tuesday (the 25th) here in the US.

Each day this week, we'll have a new video with Mike chatting about different songs - you can hit the Vice site to see the video about the first track on the album, "Prangin Out" - the videos are optimized for your iPod, btw. If you'd like to hear something off the new record, check out "When You Wasn't Famous" - give it a go and see what you think.

Oh, also, if you want to hear what The Street sounds like live, I've got a pair of tickets to give away for the Vice recs curated Intonation Music Festival, June 24th + 25th in Chicago. The festival looks downright amazing, with The Streets, Bloc Party, Lady Sov, Kano, Annie, Constantines, Jon Brion and many more artists performing. I'll announce the rules of the contest TOMORROW, but you might as well get excited and start thinking about winning the tickets now.

Don't be fooled. As someone from the UK. The streets aren't innovative, they don't have a unique style, aren't insightful social commentators they're just really really bad. Good god Mike Skinner's affected cheeky chappy swaggering is annoying. I mean if all else fails listen to the lyrics they're even worse than his incredibly tedious style of delivery. There is good hip hop in the UK (life, braintax etc.) but the streets really isn't it.

It's funny when you talk about THE STREETS, because uh, Yo!, I've been on that shit since day one too. Just like you!, I've busted his stuff on a few gigs (thanks to robot blair) that I've played. And that's when I have guranteed a$$, and its IRONIC. (^_^)
