We've got no time for faking

One of the positive developments in music lately has been the forgotten art of giving a damn. It's been refreshing to hear music with arrangements that aren't necessarily orchestral but full of little touches here and there, indications that the artist knows you're listening and wants you to have a good time.

The new record by Paul Schneider, called Forever Debts, is a fun thing to behold. It's got all sorts of things going on, the most noticeable being some catchy, well-written rock songs.
Like ... this one!

Paul Schneider - Osmosis.

Slick, right? It kinda worms its way into your head and doesn't leave. Get ready for that.

Schneider has released another album, Escape Velocity, that critics, Pitchfork among them, gave favorable notices. He's been playing in bands for years (including Rivington, who were signed to Epic and then, of course, dumped from the label because, well, it was a major label in 2000), but this is only his second solo record. Both Escape Velocity and Forever Debts were released by Semaphore Records.

You can pick up Forever Debts from Paul himself, or from Insound.
