Walter Meego - Romantic Floss (drops).
I know that I just posted Walter Meego the other day, but these guys are killing it right now. They even got a Fader mention last week (nice photo, dudes). So when I heard they'd hooked up with Flosstradamus for an official remix, I tracked it down right away. I met the Flosstradamus dudes at this mexican barbecue place in Austin earlier this year. They'd driven down non-stop from Chicago to DJ a couple of gigs and they were a couple of solid guys. They're doing shit in Chicago that no one else is, pioneering some parties and generally just cutting shit up for both the underground heads and the fancy pants uptown types.
So here they take Meego's latest single and crunch it up with some video-game style synths and handclap rhythms. They drop their own robot-vocaled name all over it, and it totally works. The intro is smooth and sublte before the cymbal hits start crashing and the vocal gets chopped up a million times. It's sick. And keep in mind that this shit is unfinished. This'll be included on the next single, but the boys are still working on it.
These floss dudes (J2k and Autobot) work three turntables in tandem and do their dj thing. Twista over Sigur Ros and all that. For you Chicago kids, you can catch them this coming Friday at the Slacks party. I guess it's an outdoor event on West Bloomingdale. Nice attire suggested. My guess is they got info on Myspace about that, and you locals should be in the know.
Anyway, the new single will be out on Brilliante Records later on this year. I'll keep you posted.
