More Than a Feeling

john huges John Hughes - Papercutz vol. 1.

Continuing in the whole hefty records flossed out series that we've been covering, John Huges pops up with Papercutz Vol. 1. It's a collection of several unreleased beats he's been crafting over the years running underneath some new hip hop vocals. It's a solid 10 minutes of experimental electronics and slick rap. I personally love it.

See, I really like it that Hefty keeps giving us these lengthy pieces. I want something 10 minutes long like this that I can really sink my ears into. He breezes along from one beat to the next, kicking in a verse here, a chorus there. It's great listening. I'm super busy at work, so when this plays in the background I end up clacking my keyboard keys along with it, franticaly blasting out some work. It all starts to make sense after awhile.

So, aside from dudes lik Common, Clipse, and L'il Jon mixed in, there's some exclusives from Detroit's Lo Louis and Japan's Akira Saito. I personally think the two new dudes hold their own, but I'll let you be the judge.

Hughes is also about to drop his entry into the Immediate Action 12"s series next week. You can preorder it at the hefty store. Recommended.

That is awesome!

Who'd have thought he'd go from 'The Breakfast Club' and 'Pretty In Pink' to something like this?

: )
