Keep it quiet
How To Cure Dyslexia - afternoon
How to cure dyslexia... what a great band name! Basically HTCD is David Miller, a youngish Londoner, whose influences are as all over the map as his music would suggest - see his Myspace page for some of them - I really like that he claims his inspiration for his new EP (Take it outside) comes from "conversations, the park and the tempo of bicycles and boats" - sometimes, like this morning, the tempo of bicycles and boats is about all I can handle, you know?
The music sounds mostly like a man with a guitar, a nice loose drum kit, and a bit of keys and bass and other delicate sounds here and there, and a whole bunch of dreaming and scheming - a few songs have him singing on them (especially good are "jos" "little else"), but the instrumental tracks, like this one (and "pulls"), are damn near perfect with just his sense of melody leading them.
The new EP comes out June 26th, to be available on CD and limited 7" on Output Recordings. Yes, that is the same Output that brought us Colder, DK7, 5 Mic Cluster, Circlesquare, Mu, Playgroup, Lopazz, Black Strobe, and Dead Combo - talk about a diverse roster right? See their Myspace page for more info and music. Anyway, yeah, so HTCD is the latest in a string of new and interesting (and all over the map) releases that Output has been saving up for us this summer - keep an eye on them for real, as there is some killer new stuff coming up soon.
If you're into it, on HTCD's Myspace page you can hear "little else" and "falling over" and you can download another track - I think his stuff is really great, and have listened to the EP over and over since my buddy James gave it to me a couple of weeks back.
Very highly recommended.
