Two Elephants
Plastic Little - The Jump Off.
Clearly schooled in the Eric B. + Rakim, EPMD, Nice and Smooth school of hip hop, these clowns are bringing it for real. This shit is hilarious. How can you not find that beat infectious? This is the type of goofball tongue in cheek hotness that has been missing from hip hop for years. I mean, just check out their site - you'll be laughing for sure.
As far as I can tell, Plastic Little is made up of four dudes of varying races. A mixed bag. One of them is clearly the wacky white dude. But somehow they make this out to be more than just a novelty rap -- I credit that classic beat they've got. This could've easily come off of 3 Feet High, or Paid in Full, or even that first Blacksheep record. I love all that stuff (to no one's surprise), so to have this slide onto my desk - it's just too perfect. The "wade in the water" breakdown is transcendent.
So, this comes from their 12" single on Tone Arm. You can order it on their site. I highly recommend it. The b-side is killer too. They've got a full-length coming in the next week or two, and you can pre-order it at the same place. I can't wait to hear it. Tone Arm seems to be all over the place lately. First they dropped that Pink Skull record on us (which Blair posted recently), and then this? Also, check out the Sweatheart video on the tone arm site. It's classy.
*Did I mention this features Spankrock and Diplo? Cuz it does.
