How Much Without the Shake

my dad vs. yoursmy dad vs. yours - No Form, No Food, No Future.

Speaking of Canada...

Make sure you've got your bass and mids turned up on this one. When the grinding drone kicks in at the half-way mark it's so worth it. It reminds me of the old outboard motors my dad's always firing up in the backyard - a metalic, rumbling unexpected hum. This song takes it time to get moving, which is nice. It's just the type of instrumental indie rock that I'm into. I don't know if there's just more of this stuff these days, or if it all finds it way to me - but I seem to have an inordinate amount of instrumental indie rock on my desk. It's crazy. A lot of it is just mediocre, but some of it really stands out, like My Dad vs. Yours.

They're from Ottawa. So there. I know they put out an EP in 2004, but I believe this is their first full length. I don't think it's on a label. Well, at least I don't see one on the packaging anywhere. So far, you can buy the whole album digitally from some place called Zunior. It'll also be available in hard copy from Insound eventually, but I'm not sure when. Either way, it's highly recommended.

I really like the build-up. It was just like watching d-wade dismantle a 7-foot German. Subtle and slow at the beginning but bordering on violence toward the end.
