We're Grinding and Grinding...
Thursday afternoon quickie:
As I mentioned in my post from last week about fellow Swiss-musicians Larytta, this guy, Bauchamp, aka Leo Ramseyer, just released this totally sick EP, titled Ivy, on the Lausanne-based Viking Music. This label seems to have some kind of loose connection to always-crazy Geneva-based Mental Groove, as they share a number of artists on their respective rosters (Kate Wax, St. Plomb, Crowdpleaser).
Anywho, the Bauchamp record has eight cuts on it that range from midtempo electro-disco, a la Metro Area or Luke Vibert's Kerrier District project, to stuttery two-step beats, to electro-house, to booty-bass, to this chopped up hip-hop electronics track. I got this EP last week, and the first time I listened to it, I knew this was one of the tracks I'd want to play out, because I knew the samples would turn heads as much as that screwy bassline and synth stabs. Same goes for the near-perfect electro-house track, "Jumping K", which will likely show its pretty little face on my next mix.
Highly recommended for any fans of the genres this record spans - Ivy (vinyl only) can be purchased via our friends at Turntable Lab or Forced Exposure, or at your favorite indie record retailer.
Bump it.
