Tiefschwarz - Damage (M.A.N.D.Y. remix)
Tiefschwarz is a pair of young German production- and DJ-stars, Ali and Basti Schwarz. They have been DJing since the ripe old age of seventeen, when they first started throwing parties in their flat in Stuttgart, moving on to squatter raves, then eventually moving into the clubs. Since then, they've moved on to Berlin, and have become a huge name amongst the techno literati.
They DJ literally all over the world, and have been producing and releasing their own music since 1996, most recently their own artist-album, last year's Eat Books. Their name has become synonymous with a particular variety of dark, electro-influenced techno, not only with their own songs, but also with the dozens of remixes they've produced for artists including Masters At Work, Groove Armada, Goldfrapp, Depeche Mode, Chicks On Speed, and Kelis.
So, that should bring you up to speed. This song, the latest single from Eat Books, also appears on the newest Fabric mix, Fabric 29, and features the distinctive vocal talents of Everything But The Girl's Tracy Thorn. The remix is courtesy of Get Physical's M.A.N.D.Y. and really takes the song to a new level of twisted deepness - pay particular attention to the mid-point when the synth sound goes down a deep hole and comes crawling back, hungry as hell, with its claws out. Yikes.
The Fabric 29 mix is an exercise in minimalism, buzzsaw bass, and synthy creepiness, courtesy of Thomas Schumacher, Sleeper Theif, Riton, Claude Von Stroke, and Kate wax among others. It is gorgeous and terrifying at the same time. Visit the Fabric website to learn more, sample tracks, and buy the CD when it is released next monday, July 17th. You'll also be able to get the CD from your favorite retailer that carries imports. Highly recommended.
