Forever or until

m ward

Before I post a track, I listen to it four or five times in a row, to remind me why I singled it out in the first place. I've listened to M. Ward's "To Go Home" far more many times than that, probably because that voice - that voice! - is just fantastic. And then there's that drone-y acoustic beginning, the pounding piano ... I often try to restrain my "fanboy" tendencies on Music For Robots, but I often, as you probably know, fail completely. Today I'm okay with that.

M. Ward - To Go Home.

On the whole, M. Ward's new record Post-War, isn't quite as good as Transistor Radio. I've only given the whole thing a couple listens, but the cursory spins have felt a little wishy-washy, kind of vague. The thing about M. Ward is, though, that his songs are just so good, and every record has that one great track: Transistor Radio had "Big Boat," Transfirguation of Vincent had "Vincent O'Brien." Now Post-War has "To Go Home," and we're all better off. (Plus, this track features Neko Case, so you get a bonus Fantastic Voice.)

You can pre-order Post-War from Amazon, and you probably should.

Pute.

Apparently this song is a Daniel Johnston cover? Interesting.
