The week, the EP, the end.

Track 5: Pela - Lost to the Lonesome
And thus, the MFR/Brassland EP week draws to a close (with such amazing weather too! man, what a gift today was). Long time MFR fans/readers may recall that Blair posted this Pela track before, but given that so much of our ever-growing readership is new, it's nice to revisit gems such as this song (something we should do more often, perhaps).
Pela. Amazing live, rock-solid in your headphones, and positively sinful blasting out your car windows on a day such as this. Pela's music is made of 100% uplifting, thrilling, and beautiful rock sounds, and after you try it, you'll love the difference over your normal brand of rock. They opened SXSW's Flaming Lips show, have worked with drummer Bryan Devendorf (pictured here with Pela's Nate Martinez) from MFR favs and Vol. 1 alums The National, and in addition to their EP (out on Brassland), their full length should be arriving any minute now. They're also a favorite in the Sunday morning funny pages, apparently.
You can read a great interview with Pela over at our favorite zinesite, S'up. Also, live dates in the near future - check it:
09/08/06 The Khyber, Philadelphia, PA with Windsor For Derby : Early Day Miners
09/09/06 Tonic, New York, NY with Windsor For Derby : Early Day Miners
09/10/06 Southpaw, Brooklyn, NY with Early Day Miners
09/11/06 Middle East Club (upstairs), Cambridge, MA with Early Day Miners
So that's it, kids. Enjoy the EP, the weekend, and the amazing weather if you're on the East Coast. If you liked anything you heard, remember you can find any of these artists at Insound, on iTunes, and of course, Brassland.org. Don't forget, if you like to pinch your pennies, you can get 25 free songs from Brassland artists (or whoever) on eMusic as well.
