Risky
Today is the first overcast day in what feels like months. It's kind of amazing. Los Angeles is anything but cozy most of the time, though a few days come close. My coworkers find this perfect weather for the new Joanna Newsom (full disclosure: my day job is involved in her publicity), but perhaps I've heard it too many times. I'm more in the mood for Menomena - a band of which I never seem to tire.
Of course the focus of any good Menomena song is the drums. But wait - this time around I find myself drawn to the acoustic guitar. The drums only flutter in and out at key moments, but the guitar is a backbone. I love it.
It comes from their new single, which you can preorder here. After that, it'll be on their upcoming Barsuk record "Friend and Foe," which I'm kind of excited about.
