Gnarls Barkley: 4-4:50

Moblogged by MFR

So while the big outdoor format worked like a charm for Wolfmother, somehow the magic of CeeLo et al. got lost in the open space out here at Pimlico. That is, while the costumes (Roman emperor style, CeeLo in helmet pictured here during rapid head bopping) were expectedly excellent and the new string section phenomenal, the audience didn't quite know how to give Gnarls the love they clearly deserved. Like I said, we're a hard rock town down here (or at least this audience is), and album of the summer or no, B-more just couldn't get into the groove. I had a blast though, which in the end is the most important thing. Thanks, Gnarls; sorry my hometown was stingy with the love.

Yeah, I agree-- it seemed like Gnarls put on a good show, but most people seemed to be checking iit out like a curiosity....

though way more folks were getting into the scissor sisters than i woulda thought for a big american rock fest...

and yes, that included myself :--)

I still had a rad time, though. Raconteurs were way better than i expected.

Yeah it seemed the audience was checkin' out Gnarls as a curiosity-- still, the day was a blast. I had fun.

Seeing the Who was part awesome, part sad.

Scissor Sisters were fun! So were the Killers (blasphemy, I know)

What show were you kids at? Deep within the crowd, I had the extreme pleasure of passing crowd surfer after crowd surfer over my head. 15 minutes wouldn't go by, when everyone around me turned around all at once, and by the time I could peel my eyes away from smoking hot string section, I got a face full of ass. I helped many a underage kid get ejected from the crowd.
