Try this at home. take the following records: Digitalism's Zdarlight, Arcade Fire's Funeral, and Blue Monday, and mix them together. If it sounds off, don't worry, you're still the same you we all know and love. If it makes a tent of 1,000+ people go fucking crazy in the middle of an already hot day, then you're clearly 2Many DJ's. I've loved these guys for years, ever since their incredible-but-$28-monster-mashup-mix days, and seeing them live is a total treat. I honestly don't get the mashup backlash that started when Girl Talk popped up - if done poorly, it sounds awful, sure (note the same is true of DJing, making any kind of music, etc...), but when it's done right it's so fucking good. These guys have been genre pioneers on this front since live on Radio Soulwax, and have been shitting gold since day one. Needless to say, it's been an amazing set so far (and still going strong - they're just now playing NY Excuse, which Blair posted about on Friday!), and if your butt likes it when the rest of you dances, get their CDs and for chrissakes see 'em live!!!
