Long weekend

mmm

John Tejada - Calculated Time

Here you go with a slice of brand spanking new techno to round out this long weekend. New York City couldn't have been more beautiful today, with warm breezy weather and clear skies. It may well have been the last day like this until the spring, so I hope you other city-folk made it outside, as I did, on a picnic with my wife.

So, you probably remember when I posted about California-based John Tejada back in March of 2005 - I had always confused Tejada with other people, but thankfully his Logic Memory Center album completely turned me around and opened up my ears to his subtle-yet-banging style. One synonym for John Tejada is prolific - just have a look at his discography and you'll see for yourself.

Anyway, this song come off of Tejada's latest full-length album, Cleaning Sounds Is A Filthy Business, which comes out early next month on Tejada's own Palette Recordings. The album features ten tracks of pretty and carefully constructed techno music, that maintains enough of a "filthy" edge to worm its way into your head and make you want to move your body. I find it quite infectious and exciting myself, and according to the press-info for Cleaning Sounds, Tejada says it "[captures] a feeling of a time when I was very excited about dance music." I think it most definitely does.

Right now you can also pick up the lead-off single from the album, "The End Of It All," which I almost posted because it is simply a killer track. However I decided that "Calculated Time" was a better representation of the album as a whole - delicate yet dirty.

You can buy the current single and loads of Tejada's back-catalogue from our friends at Forced Exposure right now (or you can also download stuff from iTunes and Beatport). Cleaning Sounds is out November 7th.

Highly Recommended.

oh lovely! thanks Blair and John for this. he is certainly a hard-working bloke but he manages to keep the quality high. I particularly recommend his 'Fairfax Sake' album with Arian Leviste on Playhouse. this tune has such a lovely shuffle built in to it, and a great attitude to the mid-range ("what's it for? I don't use it"). I am definitely playing this on Friday and I know people will love it. cheers, a>

Just discovered your site. I like the recommendations except for one: Don't buy anything from Forced Exposure. The last time I tried to buy anything from them was years ago and it left an awful taste in my mouth. Extremely rude and they never delivered the product. Hopefully they've changed...

CTP - we wouldn't recommend FE if we didn't trust them. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with them a while ago, but they're a good bet nowadays.
