No More, no LES
Germany's Gomma Records is one of my favorite labels, and one I know I can turn to when I need my weirdo-electro-disco fix. One of their latest releases is a tasty treat of retro disco-smacks by a pair of young New York City cats, Drrty and Haze (AKA Drilla), known together as Drrtyhaze.
The Gomma release, titled Voodoo EP, pulls the feel of the NYC disco underground up and makes you want to slow-dance with the junkies and the freaks. The tracks draw samples from diverse sources of disco-not-disco, rock, no-wave, etc. all of which are served up tweaked and twisted, aesthetically not unlike our friends from Philly, Pink Skull (hey guys, get talking to each other if ya aren't already, yeah?).
It is the hotness, and I'll vouch for this and pretty much all of the Gomma stuff as having just enough cowbell and handclaps to satisfy, but not leave you feeling over-fed. Pick up your Drrtyhaze and other Gomma goods from our friends at Forced Exposure (US) or Phonica (UK/mailorder) - or download via Beatport, iTunes, or eMusic.
Oh, wait, there's more - if you hit up either Drrty or Haze's websites, you can snag a grip of mixes they've done. The same goes for their myspace page, or Gomma's site, who are hosting Drrty's "DrrtyNewYork Vol. 11" mix that features tracks by Lindstrøm, Connie Case, Phreek Plus One, Moroder, Headman and many other disco-bombs, new and old. Hit that shit.

PS: Don't forget, I'll be rocking the decks at Fontana's for Pistol Whipped AND Home Sweet Home for White Lightning this Friday night!
Ooh ooh, OR, if you're in Minneapolis and want to rock out and dance, hit up Too Much Love! They look like fun time party kids to me, and anyone that's trying to get people to dance out there is doing good in my book...
