Everybody's listenin' to Hot-ness

Alex !K7 & Joe Hot Chip - A GrecoRoman Mix

Hell yes. I've been sitting on this lovely thing for a couple of weeks now, and finally got the go-ahead from the lads...

Here's the deal: GrecoRoman is a roving party machine that takes place in London, Berlin, and sometimes (like a couple of weeks back during CMJ) New York. The crew is sizable, but two of the main characters are two top-shelf dudes, of whom I am very fond: Alex, from !K7 Records and Joe, from MFR favorites Hot Chip - they started out doing these Sunday sessions called Uber Alles, and the "international sonic wrestling match between like-minded people" was born.

So far as I know, this is pretty much an exclusive, as far as the mix being online goes. No, don't bother asking me for a tracklist, you'll have to figure it out yourselves, ok? I'll tell you there is some crazy hot stuff on there, much of which you'll recognize: booty, techno, funk, electro, gutter hip-hop, acid-y house - all over the map, but essentially perfect party-music.

Enjoy the mix, add them to your myspace friends, and get your ass to the next GrecoRoman in London (or Berlin, or New York)!

Anyone know the name of the dirty electro-house tune that drops about 31 minutes in? "oi oi new york, this is london..."?

Brilliant mix, loving it.

but is there a playlist

Posted by: Derek at November 19, 2006 4:13 PM

Indeed the song that bombs in at 31 min.!! anybody know the title of this song, and the 1 after that at 34.30 min., oooeewiee

Posted by: Derek at November 20, 2006 9:54 AM

"Oi Oi New York this is London..."
the track after 31 mins is our very own GrecoRoman tune by David E Sugar. he played one of the GR parties in London with 2 nintendo gameboys and a guitar and rocked it so hard that he got laid and then wrote us a tune!
as for the rest, you'll have to work it out, sorry!
thanks for all the support

Hi, didn't get a chance to download this when it was up. Any chance of anyone forwarding it on, or know of anywhere else hosting it? Really keen to hear it.

Thanks,

Ralph

Hey, I really really want that mix. :/

Posted by: filthy at January 27, 2007 6:22 PM

I just found and downloaded that mix today at this url:

http://www.boogieburg.com/index.php?PAGE_ID=86

I haven't listened to it yet, but everyone's talking it up so much, I'm stoked and I haven't even heard it yet.

Before the Natascha Thomas track it's Ying Yang twins - Wait, before that - Sade - sweetest tabu, and before - Lady Sovereign - Random

Posted by: filther at May 13, 2007 2:01 PM

The track 'Why" is by Carly Simon (and produced by Bernard Edwards & Nile Rodgers from Chic), not Natascha Thomas.

Posted by: alan at June 30, 2007 8:28 AM
