The Wurst is the best
Blam!
Here we are, it is Friday, and I have got some delicious disco goodness for you.
I got an email from this guy My Cousin Roy earlier this week - I'd actually been hearing good things about this record, as the kids at some of my favorite record shops (like the Lab and Picadilly Pecords) have included it in their featured new releases write-ups in the last week or two. My Cousin Roy is a mysterious disco-loving dude from Brooklyn who has started a label for disco edits and other weirdness called "Wurst Edits" - this song comes from their first release, which has been getting a lot of love from tasteful DJs like Lindstrøm, Tim Sweeney, Trevor Jackson and Carl Craig (and now yours truly). Hotness.
Roy tells me there's lots more great shit coming out on the label, including unreleased remixes of Home Video by The Loving Hand, the debut single from Runaway (Marcos Cabral, who has done some techno for Trapez, and Jacques Renault, of the Thursday night ISS party in NYC), as well as another My Cousin Roy release. Roy also does a weekly radio show called "Apocalypse Wow" on East Village Radio - check out the show here.
You can pick up Wurst Edits #1 from Turntable Lab (US) and Picadilly (UK), and a select handful of other fine retailers.

PS: Tomorrow (Saturday) night, the place to be is Studio B for Fixed - JDH and Dave P are back from a successful DJ-trip to Europe, and to help bring the noise, they've got guest-DJ Boys Noize in from Berlin, and live guests Crystal Castles and Foreign Islands - advance tix are $7 from Other Music or IGetRvng, or it is ten bucks at the door. It will be well worth the price of admission. See you there!
