I Have A Message For You

newcrom1Mae Shi - Forecasting (Double Beta Demo).

First things first: Mae Shi are playing a show in Los Angeles on Saturday. They're playing at GroundZero Coffeehouse, which is on the USC Campus. It is a free show. The all ages show starts at 8, and Mae Shi go on last. They have an all new show, which features costume changes and perhaps some choreography. Their previous shows were fucking amazing, so I can only imagine that the new incarnation will be spectacular. I am definitely going, so you should all come too.

So, the track here is off their upcoming album. The boys are currently mixing and mastering a new full length, and it's slightly different than their previous pieces. By slightly different I mean fucking awesome. I love the new material I've heard so far, with multiple voices and walls of instruments and a level of energy that most bands could never muster.

The run time of 1:58 is classic Mae Shi - short and brilliant.

As you may recall, we have a long history with Mae Shi. I've posted them several times, and we included them on our first compilation. I'm pretty excited about the new record and the show. So all you folks in the southland should come out.

Comments

yes, go see the mae shi. they're the best band around. their music is so complicated and seemingly cerebral on record, and then they go apeshit on stage and it sounds great and all the elements are still there. i'd think there'd be more calculators involved, but those cal arts weirdos don't give a fuck, and it IS brilliant.

so did Mae Shi get a new vocalist or are vocals by committee now?

they DO have a new vocalist, who also plays guitar, synth and accordion. They also all sing a lot, in unison and harmony. It's really quite something.
