Grey Day

As Mark said earlier, the northeast is currently snowy. Super snowy. It snowed on and off last night, but hasn't stopped all day today. Everything is white, but is rapidly turning gray and brown and getting filthy. I guess that's the price you pay in a big city like New York, or Berlin...
Happy In Grey is the title of the first full-length album by Berlin's Damero. Damero is the alter-ego of Marit Posch, a classically trained musician who grew up studying music in East Germany, France, Italy and the US. She later worked with a number of musicians in Berlin's independent electronic scene, like Apparat and Modeselektor.
Her day-job is working promotions for the BPitch Control label, one of my favorites. The story goes that label-head Ellen Allien heard some of Damero's home made tracks and was pleasantly surprised - so much so that her album is coming out on BPitch on the 26th of this month in Europe! The album features Damero's words and music in collaboration with producer Henri Hagenow, as well as guest productions (akin to Erlend Øye's solo album) by Apparat, AGF, Zander VT, headkit, and Nevis Peak. The music is at times soft and pretty, other times banging and minimal, but always melodic. Perfect for a snowstorm laden day like this one, to be happy in grey.
When the album is released (in a couple of weeks in Europe, then in March here in the US), you will be able to get it from our friends at Forced Exposure, on iTunes, or your favorite indie retailer. Also check out her Myspace page for more info and to hear more songs from the album. Recommended.
