Do you Copy?

Copy - Fist

MFR's good buddy and all-around good dude from Portland, Copy - aka Maruis Libman - returns triumphant with a whole slew of new e-jams. "Fist" is the opening track on his new full length album Hair Guitar, the follow-up to last year's Mobius Beard (do you see the theme developing?), and I can't wait for the public to hear all of it.

See, Copy has this knack for creating these electro tracks that appear at first to be simple and lo-fi, but on repeated listens, you hear more and more in them. He has an incredible sense of what makes a great pop melody, and his drum programming is something that shouldn't be overlooked either. The new album, and his first one, are released by the Portland electro-rock collective/label known as Audio Dregs - he has also been known to associate with the Holocene crew (you know who you are!).

On top of his musical abilities, he also has a sense of humor: not only for album- and song-titles, but in his various exploits that run alongside his original work, like his mixtapes. The first one, Diva Mixtape Vol.1, released in the guise of DJ Copy, took the vocals of Whitney Huston, Mariah Carey, TLC, etc. and paired them with his sick 8-bit productions - it is both bumping and hilarious.

So, not to be outdone, when you pre-order a copy of Hair Guitar - which you can do via Audio Dregs - you will get a copy of the DJ Copy Bone-Thugs-Harmony-N-Copy mixtape. And, yes, it is his beats paired with the vox of Bone Thugs, and it is amazing.

Be sure to check both the Copy and DJ Copy myspace pages for more music, and up-to-date info. I guess we just missed the double CD release party last week (on the 2nd) that Copy and Panther had... hopefully some of you guys were there though, yeah?

you should have said that you couldn't wait for the "pubic" to hear all of it.

that would have been relevantly humorous.
