Sneak out of the house, nobody's watching you

goodnight loving

The Goodnight Loving are from Milwaukee, and their music sounds like it. I don't really know what that means, it's just something I get from their brand of dusty, raucous, country rock. I can't quite picture their record Cemetery Trails coming from New York.

The Goodnight Loving - Dead Fish On The Banks.

How about that? That track is, I think, what country music should be. These guys aren't Johnny Cash or anything, but this song just suggests sawdust-filled floors, empty beer bottles, and belt buckles. I know that's simplifying things, but what can I tell you? That's how my brain works.

Anyway, The Goodnight Loving - specifically, Andrew Kavanaugh, Zachary Byrne, Austin Dutmer, Colin Swinney, and Andrew Harris - have this great album called Cemetery Trails, and you should buy it.

Comments

This sounds so much like Bright Eyes that it's quite uncanny.

Reminds me of American Movie. Mark and Mike have an affinity for cemetery trails in Milwaukee.

Thanks for the great song. It made my day and got me through this cold and drizzly morning here in Lennoxville Quebec.
