How (not) to keep it clean

Naive New Beaters - Bang Bang (Yuksek Remix)

Every time I turn around, the youth in France seem to be listening to another crazy band that manages to get the remix treatment from someone I know and love, in this case Yuksek (who I wrote about back in September).

This time around, the band is Naive New Beaters - a group of guys raised on 80s pop, hip-hop, hair metal. Oh, and techno music. Sounds like a lot of us these days right? Anyway, they present an interesting amalgam of styles, and their new Bang Bang EP, which comes out in April in their own label (distributed by Discograph, so it will be available all over) is a solid single, with a pair of slamming remixes.

Australia's Ajax (of the Bang Gang crew) dubs and flays the song, and serves it up as an electro-rock anthem with heavy filtered guitars playing throughout. I decided that I prefer the Yuksek mix - its tough as nails, with a hard beat, loads of filtered effects, and it breaks down in a fashion I particularly enjoy.

They've been getting a lot of good press in France, but I don't know if they've had much coverage here at all yet - see what you think. Once you've exhausted their website (which is quite good), hit their myspace page for more songs and tour info - it looks like they're quite a live show. Recommended.
