Fanfare for Fanfarlo

Fanfarlo - You Are One of The Few Outsiders Who Really Understands Us

I don't get it. I've just gotten my paws on a Serato box, I've been listening almost exclusively to more electronic/dance/bleepy music than ever, and thinking I'm about to walk away from other genres altogether, and then a band like Fanfarlo pops up and tilts the scales back, bringing a whole avalanche of unexpected delights with 'em.

So who are Fanfarlo? Well, David Bowie sure likes 'em (scroll down), and most of the music is masterminded by Simon Aurell. They have a video for this song completed, but other than that, they're a mystery machine. Well, not really - they talk a fair about themselves in this interview, which helps to decrypt their websites biography somewhat. Imagine Rufus Wainwright playing lead and singing for a band that was the secret bastard child of Cake and the Arcade Fire and you're 80% of the way there. Perhaps that seems like a mess, but it works, trust me.

The 12" is out and available for ordering complete with that sweet B-side we heard over at Headphonesex, so get cracking!

Thanks for the heads up. Fanfarlo are really quiet brilliant. Had the 7" brought back from London for me as a suprise. She must really care is what I thought. The b-side In The Trunk is equally as good. You can get two of the singles on emusic.
