What did I miss?

Ellen Allien & Apparat - Red Planets

Once again, Berlin steps correct. This last Saturday night in Brooklyn, Ellen Allien came and apparently rocked the decks pretty hard. I didn't make it out unfortunately, but I've heard (and seen) nothing but good things from people.

Allien is the head of Berlin's BPitch Control - one of the best, and most consistently forward-thinking techno labels around. They have about a hundred and fifty releases under their belt, the most recent (CD) being the newest installment in the semi-annual Camping series - Camping Compilation 03 - which just came out, and it is chock-full of bangers. All-new bangers no less! Each song is new and exclusive to the compilation (though there are also three 12"s with extended versions of songs for the deejays).

Ranging from the electro-tech symphony of this Ellen Allien & Apparat song, to the wood-block techno of Ben Klock. From the tough acid track by Zander VT, to the rolling ambient tech of Sascha Funke. From fucked-up disco tracks by Thomas Andersson and Timtim, to twisted post-rave tracks by Jahcoozi and Modeselektor (who also have an exciting release coming up shortly - stay tuned), Camping 03 is yet another solid BPitch release, and an excellent set of songs for the label and the artists, which also includes Sylvie Marks & Hal9000, Feadz (who you also know as Uffie's DJ), Saftey Scissors, and Fairmont.

You can order the CD direct from BPitch, or our friends at Forced Exposure, or you can download it in high-quality MP3-format from Beatport.

Excellent all around, and highly recommended.

Comments

boy, I wonder if Regina Spektor likes having her music ripped off. Listen to the notes from "Fidelity."

Now listen to the notes at the beginning of this song.

Uncanny resemblance? hmmm.
