The Arbitary Nature of Relationships.
Parts & Labor - Fractured Skies.
So you had a weird week. So your brand new promotional cell phone got run over in West Hollywood. So some girl with an obviously fake name told you you had sexy teeth. So you saw Andrew W.K. go on a freeform jazz odyssey. This is all ok. It's Friday and we've got a new album from Parts & Labor. So quit your bitching and crank this motherfucker as loud as it'll go. The mix is primed for blowing out your speakers - with the vocals just fuzzed out and loud enough to barely stay afloat over the floodwaters of noise and horn section. The band is doing their best to control their chaos and fuck me if they haven't done a good job here.
What's that you say? You never owned their last album that came out last year right about this time and was totally awesome? Criminal. Go out and grab it now so we can keep talking. But even better, we have the new record- Mapmaker, on Jagjaguwar - one of the most consistently significant labels squirting out records in America. They earn a gold star for this one.
Parts & Labor is a three piece. One of them is in charge of Paper Thin Walls. I have no idea what the other two do when they're not melting faces with their heavy beards and sweaters and synthetic noise. My guess is something nerdy, but by that I mean no offense.
Listen, it's 9 a.m., I'm still in bed and about to hop in the shower. Parts & Labor will help me get there. They will guide the soap over my arms, the shampoo through my hair, the brush over my teeth, the tie around my neck. It'll all happen in the next ten minutes because it has to.
When Jagjaguwar is good and ready they'll release the new record on the world. That day will be May 22nd.
The end.
