I love this site for spreading the word on tunes, but whats with the sponsorship on this post. Virgin? Sorry if I am the only one disturbed by that.

IHateCellPhones, If you'd like to pay our bandwidth bills for us, we'd be happy to eliminate the sponsorship. As it is, we do what we have to to keep the site up and try to keep it minimally obnoxious.

It's also nothing new at all - we got hooked up by Virgin over a year ago, and all it amounts to is that they gave us a bunch of their hardware (QWERTY camera phones) and minutes to use as we see fit. We're using it to do live coverage of events, and if you look back over the site, you'll see many other live moblogged posts that are also tagged with the thank-you-VM bit. Just to be crystal clear, no money has changed hands with them at any point. They understandably have a soft spot for live music, and were willing to provide us with tools to bring a new element to MFR artist coverage.

I appreciate your concern, but the tag is just our way of saying "thanks for the phones and airtime!"

Fair enough. I guess I was just taken back by the mobile presence in what feels like a more grass roots campaign, but everyone has bills to pay. Keep spreading the good word.
