Let's make a song on the 8-track tonight!

mirah & ginger

I've been super busy lately, and my posting on Robots has suffered, which is unncessary. I'm just bad at time management. But I was listening to this song this afternoon, and it totally improved my day, so I thought I'd throw it out there until I get my shit together. This isn't new, and most of you indie experts have probably heard it already. But what the hell, it's so, so good, and it'll make the rest of your week fly by, I promise.

Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn & Ginger Brooks Takahashi - Oh! September.

This is from the duo's record Songs From the Black Mountain Music Project, which was released in 2003 on K Records. Mirah's just ridiculously talented, and you should definitely check out her record You Think It's Like This But Really It's Like This if you haven't already. She caters in folky pop of the highest order, and that album's song "Sweepstakes Prize" is guaranteed to improve your day.

You can pick up Songs From The Black Mountain Music Project and You Think It's Like This But Really It's Like This (and all her other releases) from Insound.

it's really too bad that she hasn't received more acclaim, because in my humble opinion she has a back catalogue of really incredible work. i got the opportunity to see her in sacramento 4 years ago in a little cafe. the highlight was "the garden," as mirah guided the crowd into a stomping and clapping rhythm as her sweet child-like vocals floated above the impromtu rhythm section. i look forward to seeing her play live again...

This is a fun song even for a big guy like me and my tatoos.
