Spent too much on cheap umbrellas

Chances are, when you heard the New Pornographers were replacing Neko Case on their tour with Carl Newman's niece, you said to yourself, "Someone's taking Neko's place? And Carl Newman has a niece old enough to sing for the New Pornographers!?" Maybe Canadians age differently or something. Here's what I know: I saw them on their last tour, and Kathryn Calder did an excellent job, serving as a good Neko surrogate while adding her own personal style to the parts. She's got her own band called Immaculate Machine, and their second full-length comes out next month. Here's what it sounds like.
Immaculate Machine - Dear Confessor.
The record's good, and there are some fun surprises. One of these is that Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kopranos guests on the first track, "Jarhand." (The liner notes have a helpful drawing of Mr. Kopranos and the record's other contributors.)
As far as I know, you can't pre-order Fables yet, but it's coming out on Mint Records on June 12. Keep those eyes peeled.
