And then go go go!

So I got married on June 30th, and then went on a weeklong honeymoon in St. Lucia (thank you, scheduled blog posts!). Everything went perfectly, from the weather in Cape Cod for our outdoor ceremony (75 and sunny) to the weather in St. Lucia (87 and sunny). Everything was amazing, and beautiful, and I'm so glad I'm married who I'm married to. Being back in Minneapolis, and in the world of newspapers, blogging, and e-mail, is definitely a mixed blessing.

The only thing even remotely bad about the honeymoon was the fact that I forgot my iPod charger, which meant I hardly heard any music all week. For me, this is a ridiculous notion, and I had to choose wisely, lest my iPod die halfway through the week. I found myself listening to a few songs everyday - specifically, the Dr. Luke remix of Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" featuring Lil Mama (don't knock it til you try it!), and these two songs from the new Jarvis Cocker solo album, "Don't Let Him Waste Your Time" and "Heavy Weather."

We hardly ever get to write about more mainstream music here, because stuff on major labels are off-limits for us good robots. So it's funny that the major label stuff we really like - in addition to Jarvis, I've been especially hooked on the new Feist like everybody else - doesn't ever get mentioned. I can't stop listening to Jarvis. It's far from perfect; there are three or four songs that just don't do anything for me. But these two songs are just incredible. (Of course, the fact that I chose these songs as honeymoon-in-the-Caribbean listening will only encourage those who think I only listen to depressing music. Drat!)

You should buy Jarvis.

**** Upatde, 7/17: I just found that "Don't Let Him Waste Your Time" is available to download here. But you should still buy the whole dang album, okay?

Congratulations!

Sounds like a beautiful time you must have had.

Wise picks.

Congrats to you David and the new Mrs. B.!

Thank you for the songs. I've been on the fence about buying this record for some time. Bought it on my lunch break after seeing these.
Wonderful songs. THANKS!
