What Are You Running For?

Minneapolis has had some great bands emerge in the past few years, and they just keep coming. Near the top of the list is the Alarmists, a group who put out a well-received EP called A Detail of Soldiers last year. They received City Pages' coveted "Picked To Click" award last year, and their new record, The Ghost And The Hired Gun, just came out on Instrument Control Records. Here's a track.
The Alarmists play the Pizza Luce Block Party (called "Blockalypse Now"! Get it? Get it??) tomorrow night, which is a super-fun event involving beer, pizza, and free music. What's not to like? The band goes on at 7:05 p.m., and other scheduled acts include Doomtree, Littleman, and Likehell. The event is at 32nd and Lyndale.
As for the band, you can also catch them tonight at the Uptown Bar at 3018 Hennepin Ave. S. in Minneapolis, 9:30 p.m., $5.
Why not show up and buy the record? If you're not in the Minneapolis area, buy the record here.
