It feels so much better, now that it's done

I recently made a "Robots" iTunes playlist to keep track of the insane amount of music that comes my way. I'm not sure why I didn't think of it before, but it made things much easier. In addition to listening to albums all the way through, I often play this list on shuffle and hope something great sneaks up on me.
This is how I first heard "Tonight I Have To Leave It," a track that was sent to me as part of the Shout Out Louds' EP of the same name. By the time I finally heard it, the record was a couple months old, and it seemed silly to post something so outdated. I'm glad, then, that the track found a home on the band's new full-length, Our Ill Wills, out yesterday on Merge.

Here's how I first heard this song: I was sitting on the bus after work. The sun was shining outside after a week of rain, and the bus was making its way down Nicollet towards Franklin. I heard that crazy drumroll, then the wall of acoustic guitars, then those cowbells and what the fuck is this? By the time I made it home, I had heard the whole EP, which includes two ridiculously great remixes of this song, a solid track called "Don't Get Yourself Involved," and a Pogues-like ballad called "Streams Of Whiskey."
Damn, I thought. This is why I need to listen to music when it first finds me.
Both Tonight I Have To Leave It and new LP Our Ill Wills are available from Insound.
