DJ Kicks again

If you've followed along with us for a while, you'll know that we're big fans of the DJ Kicks series of mixes put out by our friends at !K7. The latest version comes from the minimal techno geniuses Booka Shade, and it is a trip.

The mix reads like a who's who in dance music from a surprisingly wide swath of styles and eras. From the techno to disco and back, the mix includes tracks by Noze, Lopazz, Carl Craig, Cerrone, John Carpenter, Aphex Twin, The Tubes, Heaven 17, Yazoo, the Streets, and Matthew Dear (and Hot Chip's remix of Matthew Dear) all make appearances, among others. Seems like a potential jumble, but Booka Shade being the masterful DJs that they are, it moves from style to style effortlessly.

With all DJ Kicks mixes, the artist always makes a song exclusive to the album, and this song is one of two new tracks they made for this mix. Overachievers always. The mix comes out this week, so go to the K7 website to order your copy now.
