We All Don't Die
The music tip-toes into the room while you're asleep, trying not to wake you up, but the vocals can't help but stir you. But since you're already up, you might as well listen. This is just a nice little love song from these Swedish metal gods. You'll like this one.
One of the best things to come out of the modern metal movement is metal ballads that don't suck absolute balls. Don't get me wrong, they're still metal ballads, but between this and Stay Free off the new Black Mountain record (and spiderman three soundtrack!) we're definitely on the right track. This is the type of song that needs one of those videos with shots of a tour-weary band, slugging jack daniels on the bus and staring off into the middle distance.
At any rate, I love the part when he starts singing about E=MC squared and totally goes off the rails in his description of love. I'm pretty sure he's dead serious about it too, which is amazing and admirable.
Now, the rest of album doesn't sound like this. It sounds like honest to goodness metal, and it's awesome. They're in the middle of a huge north american tour with Danava and Saviours. And they play Satryicon in Portland tonight. That show should be ridiculous. Highly recommended.
ps. this is a Roky Erickson cover, which kind of explains the craziness in the lyrics.
