There is no key, okay, okay

Recording my new CD has made me realize this about myself: I love the tangible. I love songs that have the sound of one object hitting another, like a glockenspiel mallet, two hands clapping, or just the pick hitting acoustic guitar strings. There's just something about hearing the actual work involved that makes it sound like a musician is giving his damndest to entertain me.
Morr Music releases stuff like that all the time. Their roster is really stellar, from Styrofoam to The Go Find, and their singles label A Number Of Small Things just spawned an eponymous compilation.
Electric President - Dotted Lines.
This is really an amazing compilation, and it's full of those tangible moments. There are bells, handclaps, and acoustic guitars, all mixed in with sweet beats and plenty of atmospheric electric guitars. And did I mention jangly pop music, including covers of The Magnetic Fields' "Papa Was A Rodeo" and the Undertones' "Teenage Kicks," AND a guest appearance from everyone's favorite Swede, Jens Lekman?
Electric President is a great band, a duo featuring Ben Cooper (also known as Radical Face, whose record Ghost we featured in March).
Order A Number Of Small Things: A Collection Of Morr Singles From 2000-2007 from Amazon. It's easily one of the best releases of the year.
