El Ten Eleven - Hot Cakes

Two minutes and twenty-eight seconds isn't all that much time, but it's enough to El Ten Eleven to show you exactly what they're about. Their instrumental rock isn't about cliches or crescendo. It's about release.

It was three years ago this month that I first heard of this band, which is totally crazy know that I think about it.

In the video, images of the band are looped in time with loops in the music. It's the perfect way to illustrate the band's style. We see Kristian and Tim at their respective workstations, going effing nuts. The song is classic ETE, weaving bass and guitar loops around Tim's intricate but powerful drum parts. And the damn thing rocks pretty hard too.

This one is off their new album, Every Direction is North, which you can buy direct from the band. And for those of you in Los Angeles they're playing this Saturday at Crane's in Hollywood.

I like the video. Not so sure about the music though, maybe I need to turn it up.

One thing without which any celebration would loose its meaning are celebration Cakes . No matter what the occasion it looses its meaning if a customary cake is not prepared for it.
