Conquest Contest

There's something to be said for not taking yourself too seriously. It seems like too many of today's mainstream rockers have a huge stick up their ass and just come off looking like assholes and babies. There's so much rock posturing and fake emo tearjerking that it's easy to forget some bands really know how to handle themselves. And that's where ol' Jack and Meg come in. I feel like they're one of the few bands out there that a lot of us can agree on. Obviously there are going to be some haters, but personally I think the band makes some of most fun records out there.

Take, for example, their latest single Conquest. I have no idea why they decided to cover this wild old Patti Page jam. And, to be honest, for the first couple listens I thought it was 100% ridiculous. But then I found myself not skipping it on the record, and then playing it for other people. I finally got it, and I fucking love it.

So, in the spirit of good times, I'm giving away the Conquest three-seven-inch set. I know that sounds confusing - but they have three versions of the single, each with a new b-side recorded in the living room of their old friend Beck Hansen. I have two copies of each, so two of you folks will win all three. They're pretty fucking sweet too, with nice packaging, posters, and little trading cards and stuff. Jack and Meg don't skimp on the small stuff, I guess.
