Sometimes it buzzes

kid dakota

More Twin Cities music! Yes!

Kid Dakota is Darren Jackson on guitar and Ian Prince on drums. Jackson is a Minneapolis music scene fixture; he's the frontman for Robots friends The Hopefuls, and he's a respected producer who owns a popular recording studio. He's all over the dang place.

Kid Dakota - Stars.

This song just gives me a feeling of complete peace. Which is interesting, because Kid Dakota is largely about angst and (well done) bombast. But damn if this song doesn't sound like serenity to me, despite the darkness inside it. (It's got a peaceful but disquieting video to match: the clip features an unmoved Jackson standing in front of a series of unsettling scenarios.)

The duo's new record A Winner's Shadow is damn good, and you can get it from the usual places, including the band itself.
